We try to produce puppies, whose parents and ancestors come out of long-lived healthy German working-lines. Our expectations of the parents are high because we want quality no quantity.

A Doberman puppy’s genetic health traits are also very important factors to consider. At VON SPELLEN, we walk the extra mile to ensure that our dogs possess the right temperament, health, and working ability that only a Doberman is well known for. We have been in the business long enough to map the family lines and spot trends in an effort to avoid undesirable traits and health issues. One should be aware though that Dobermans tested and proven to be free from important diseases do not necessarily guarantee that they will give rise to offspring which are a hundred percent free from certain genetic health issues. In a Doberman’s lifetime, there will always be a possibility that it can suffer from health problems which are not genetic, and a breeder, even though how reputable they may be, will never have a way of predicting it.
